Ford & Williams crowned champions, team finishes third

On Thursday through Saturday, the Spain Park wrestling team traveled to Huntsville to compete in the AHSAA State Championships. The Jags placed third, one of their highest all time finishes, crowned two champions, and had four wrestlers medal.

Champions:
6A 126
London Ford (4-0) placed 1st with two pins and two decisions.
Ford completed the season with a record of 50-8, including 13 pins and a team best 19 tech falls. His semifinal match saw him avenge his loss last week to Rhys Coulter (Gulf Shores) with a 13-6 decision followed by his championship match 9-4 decision over Caleb Barry (Buckhorn).

Bradley Williams (3-0) placed 1^st with two pins and a tech fall. He was also named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Williams completed his season undefeated for the third year in a row, with a record of 59-0, including 48 pins and 7 tech falls. Not one of his matches went beyond the second period and every match resulted in bonus points. His three year undefeated span resulted in a record of 167-0, which is fourth in AHSAA all time records. His 296 total wins place him seventh in AHSAA history. In addition, Bradley becomes one of only three Spain Park wrestlers with three State championships, and the only wrestler to have medaled six times and received three Most Outstanding Wrestler awards.

Fourth Place:

Israel Anders (3-2) placed 4^th with a tech fall, a major decision, and a decision. Anders finished the season 49-12 with 14 pins, 10 tech falls, and 12 major decisions.

John Maalouf (2-2) placed 4^th with two pins. Maalouf's season record was 41-11 with 29 pins and 4 tech falls for the season.

Sixth Place:

JP Isaminger (2-3) placed 6^th with a pin and a decision. Isaminger finished with a season record of 37-20, including 22 pins, 4 tech falls, and 2 major decisions.
