In the first game of the PBR Kickoff Classic, Spain Park defeated Hartselle in dramatic fashion, with a 5-4 walk-off victory. The Jaguars were down 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when
Joe Cross singled, scoring two runs.
Nathan Byrd earned the win for Spain Park allowing three hits and one run over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Ashton Doepel took the loss for Hartselle pitching two and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out three and walking none.
Michael Johnson started the game for the Jags and allowed four hits and three runs over four innings, striking out two and walking three.Â
Spain Park accumulated 10 hits in the game. Cross drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Jags with two RBIs and finished 2-for-3 on the day.
Rhys Jones and
Brodie Bragg also collected two hits for Spain Park.Â
