Despite a 5-run deficit in the sixth inning, Spain Park almost came all the way back, eventually falling 11-9 to Huntsville in Game 1 on Saturday at Huntsville High School. The Jaguars got a three run home run from Senior
Rhys Jones in the seventh inning but ultimately fell short.
A sacrifice fly by Junior
Evan Taylor put Spain Park on the board in the top of the first, but Huntsville tied it up in the bottom of the inning when Parker Hovis hit into a run scoring fielder's choice. The Panthers took the lead in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI single to center field and a Jaguar error that led to another run.
Junior
Connor Greb's RBI double to center field in the top of the fourth inning tied the game.
Huntsville captured the lead, 5-3, in the bottom of the fourth after Will Carter hit a sacrifice fly, and Hovis singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.
The Jaguars tied the game again in the top of the fifth thanks to a hit by a pitch, and a sacrifice fly by senior
Ryne Paquette.
A home run to left field by Carter gave Huntsville the lead, 8-5, in the bottom of the fifth.
Spain Park scored three runs in the top of the seventh on a home run to center field by senior
Rhys Jones.
Andrew Barnsby earned the win for Huntsville. The pitcher surrendered seven hits and five runs over five innings, striking out six and walking three.
Nash Davis took the loss for Spain Park. The reliever went one inning, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out one.
Michael Johnson started on the hill for the Jaguars. The righty gave up four hits and four runs (two earned) over 3.1 innings, striking out one and walking two. Joel Austin earned the save Huntsville.
Spain Park accumulated 10 hits in the game. Leadoff hitter Greb led the Jags with four hits in four at bats. Jones went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Senior
Joe Cross collected two hits for Spain Park in four at bats.
Slade Bounds stole two bases. The Jaguars ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game.
In Game 2, Spain Park beat Huntsville 4-3 thanks to Taylor's go-ahead RBI single in the top of the 5th innning.
The Jaguars opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to Cross's RBI singled.
Cabe Amason's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning helped Huntsville tie the game at three.
Junior
Colin Woodward earned the win for Spain Park. The starter surrendered six hits and three runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Jeffery Rich took the loss for Huntsville. The pitcher went five innings, allowing one run on five hits, striking out one and walking two. Will Jones started on the bump for the Panthers. The pitcher surrendered four hits and three runs over two innings, striking out one. Senior

Connor Dabbs pitched one inning of scoreless ball for Spain Park in relief. The hurler allowed one hit and struck out two.
Spain Park collected nine hits in the game.
Slade Bounds went 1-for-2 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in. Taylor was 3-for-4 at the plate and Cross collected two hits in four at bats.
