Spain Park defeated Athens 6-1 on Saturday afternoon to open bracket play in Vestavia's Red & Blue Classic.

The Jaguars got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Reagan Roberts homered to left field and Allie Whitaker doubled to center field, each scoring one run.  The Jags added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Chloe Wade drew a walk, scoring a run, Klara Thompson singled, scoring another run, and Abby King singled, scoring two more.

Maxie Provost started in the circle for Spain Park. The starter surrendered one hit and no runs over three innings, striking out four and did not allow a walk. Lopez started the game for the Eagles. The pitcher allowed six hits and six runs over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two. Mary Payton Dees appeared in relief for Spain Park.

Outfielder Abby King provided pop in the middle of the lineup, going 2-2 and led the Jags with two RBIs.
