Spain Park ousted Daphne 7-3 on Saturday morning in the Perfect Game tournament at Spain Park High School. The Trojans got on the board in the first inning after Jack Davidson doubled, scoring one run, then added another run in the third after Davidson singled down the right field line on an 0-2 count.
Spain Park tied the game in the bottom of the fourth thanks to an RBI ground out by
Nash Davis, and a tag up by
Joe Cross on a sac fly. A double by Davidson in the 5th inning gave Daphne a 3-2 lead.
The Jaguars flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 7-3. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Michael Johnson started the game for Spain Park. The righty gave up eight hits and three runs over five innings, striking out one and walking one.
Nathan Byrd threw two innings of shutout ball in relief.allowing no hits, stuck out two, and no walks.
Johnson drove the middle of the lineup, leading Spain Park with three RBIs. Cross went 2-for-3 at the plate.
