Joe Cross drove in five runs on three hits to lead Spain Park past Dacula (GA) 11-1 on Saturday afternoon in the Perfect Game tournament at Spain Park High School. Cross hit a home run to right field in the first scoring two, singled in the second scoring two, and doubled in the fourth scoring two more.
After Cross's first inning home run gave them the early lead, the Jaguars added to it in the bottom of the second inning on
Camden Major's RBI triple,
Connor Greb's RBI grounded out, and Cross's 2-run single.
Colin Woodward earned the win for Spain Park. The junior pitcher gave up three hits and one run over 5.1 innings, striking out five and walking two. Draylen Milline took the loss for Dacula. The pitcher went two innings, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits, striking out two and walking two.
Will Jacobsen appeared in relief for Spain Park.
Spain Park piled up 12 hits in the game. Cross and
Evan Taylor each collected three hits,Â
Rhys Jones and Major collected two each.Â
Spain Park will travel to Gardendale for their next game on Tuesday.
