On Friday night, Spain Park fell 8-6 to Loganville (GA) at Spain Park High School despite out-hitting them eight to six.
Rhys Jones and
Connor Greb each collected two hits for the Jaguars.
Spain Park jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning after
Slade Bounds walked,
Michael Johnson singled down the right field line,
Evan Taylor singled to right field,
Will Jacobsen flew out, Loganville committed an error, and
Hudson Hibbard was struck by a pitch, each scoring a run.
The Red Devils scored six runs on three hits in the top of the third inning. An error scored one run, Matt Berardinelli singled, scoring two runs, an error scored another run, Jake Boland singled, scoring one, and Aiden Watson hit into a double play, but another run scored. In the top of the seventh, Loganville broke up the tie on Brantley Carter's RBI single. Then a walk by Boland followed to extend the lead to 8-6.
Jeremiah Reiss earned the win for Loganville. The pitcher gave up two hits and no runs over four innings, striking out six and walking none.
Cason Weidman took the loss for Spain Park. The righty went four innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out two and walking two.
Houston Holmes opened the game for the Jags. The right-handed pitcher gave up three hits and six runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out six and walking two.Â
Taylor, Bounds, Johnson, and Jacobsen each drove in one run for Spain Park.
